History
Burmese cats are an amazing breed, with some Burmese cats being credited as living in Buddhist temples in Burma during the 15th Century. Indeed Burmese cats were not known to have existed outside Burma until the 1930’s. Since then they have spread all around the world becoming one of the best known cat breeds
Types
At the moment most Burmese can be categorized as either being an American Burmese or a European Burmese. The major differences between the two are; American Burmese are rounder in shape like British Short-Hairs, whereas the European Burmese are sleeker, more like Orientals.
The 4 main colours that occur within the breed are Brown, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac. Other colours that can occur are Red, Cream and Tortie.
